The Dongdaemun Shopping Center close to Cheonggyechoen, the center of the Hi Seoul Festival has been designated as the second tourism special zone in Jung-gu, Seoul. As a large-scale fashion valley where traditional markets and fashion malls coexist, it is the most sought after by foreigners. It is the largest shopping center with 26 malls and a total of about 30,000 shops.
It is the world’s largest fashion town with about one million visitors and about 2,500 foreign visitors daily. Total sales of the 30,000 or so shops located in the Dongdaemun Shopping Center amount to 40 billion KRW daily or 10 trillion KRW annually.
This area of 585,709㎡ is a new tourist shopping attraction where traditional markets such as the Peace Market, the center of low-value fashion industry, and modern large-scale shopping malls such as Migliore, Doosan Tower, Good Morning City and Hello APM coexist.
